Getting started
Do I have to build my website from a blank page?
No. Webarto starts with prepared pages and sections. Add your work and its details, then choose how to present it. You can rearrange sections and add pages as your practice grows.
Is Webarto for makers as well as painters?
Yes. Your work can include ceramics, jewellery, textiles, sculpture, prints and other handmade pieces. Use galleries to present collections and, with a selling-enabled plan and payment setup, product pages to offer work for sale.
Can I ask questions before choosing a plan?
Yes. You can leave the plan undecided when you request access. Tell us what you make and what you need; we will contact you about the next step. Requesting access is not a commitment to buy.
What if I already have a website?
Include your current website address when you get in touch. Tell us which content, pages and links matter to you so we can discuss the move before you make changes. Keep your existing website in place until the next steps are agreed.
What is Webarto?
Webarto is a ready-made website and connected working system for artists and makers. It brings together galleries, products, workshops, Blog, News and communication tools, with flexible pages and a built-in design system.
What does automatic SEO mean?
Webarto prepares the main search information for a page from the content you add, such as its title, description and image.
This applies to the supported artwork, product, workshop, Blog, News and website pages. It does not guarantee search rankings.
Does Webarto include Blog and News?
Yes. Use the Blog for longer stories and ideas. Use News & Announcements for timely updates such as exhibitions, launches and workshop dates.
Are Webarto websites designed for phones and desktops?
Yes. The public artist websites are designed for responsive layouts and fast browsing on mobile and desktop.
What happens after I request access?
We review the information about your practice and contact you about the next step. Requesting access is not a commitment to buy.
Website style
Is it a fixed template?
No. Preset pages provide a starting structure, but supported sections can be added, removed and rearranged. You can also create custom pages.
Can galleries have their own pages?
Yes. Artwork Type galleries can sit beneath Portfolio or have their own main-menu entries and routes, such as /paintings.
Can I create a Commissions or Public Art page?
Yes. Custom pages use the same supported section and styling tools as preset pages and can be added to the main menu, footer or both.
Can I change the colours of individual sections?
Supported pages and sections can use different combinations of your saved theme colours, keeping variety within a consistent visual identity.
Can I change the menu layout?
Yes. Choose from the supported menu-bar layouts and arrange the available pages to suit the website.
Artworks and galleries
What is a Type?
A Type is a main kind of work you make, such as Paintings, Sculpture or Ceramics. Artwork Types can create separate online galleries; Product Types organise the things you sell.
What are categories and subcategories?
They provide more detailed organisation within a Type—for example, Paintings → Landscapes → Yorkshire Dales. Use them when they help; a small portfolio can remain simple.
Does every artwork have its own link?
Every published artwork has a dedicated page and direct web address, making it easier to share a particular piece.
Can I show where an artwork is available?
Yes. Where to Buy connects artwork to art galleries, exhibitions and shops, with the relevant public information shown on the artwork page.
Can I show my work without selling online?
Yes. You can present your work and its availability without enabling online purchasing. A sold piece can remain in your portfolio, and you can show where work is available through an art gallery, exhibition or shop.
Selling
Can visitors buy through my website?
With an ecommerce-enabled plan and completed payment setup, visitors can buy the supported artwork, products and workshop places offered through the website.
Which plan supports selling and workshop bookings?
Portfolio+ includes selling through your website. Online purchases and workshop bookings also require completed payment setup with a suitable Stripe or Square account. Provider approval and fees are separate.
Email and newsletters
Is custom email included?
Custom email is a separate paid service and is not automatically included with every website plan.
Can I send newsletters without Webarto custom email?
Newsletter sending through Webarto currently requires an active Webarto custom email service.
Plans and services
Can I use my own domain?
Portfolio and Portfolio+ support your own domain. Essential uses a Webarto subdomain. If you already have a domain, tell us when you get in touch so its setup can be discussed before anything is changed.
Which costs are separate from the website plan?
Custom email is a separate paid service, and payment providers may charge their own fees. We will explain the applicable services and costs before you decide. If you need newsletters, domain arrangements or help with an existing website, include those questions in your request.
